Accordio – Learn Accordion

About Accordio®

The Accordio Mission

The people behind Accordio

Matthias Matzke (l) and Benjamin Volz (r)

As musician friends from our youth, we had known each other since 2010.

Matthias was concertmaster of the accordion youth orchestra, Benjamin was timpanist of the symphonic youth orchestra.

Our shared love for music, and even more so for composing and testing out new musical possibilities, welded us directly together.

But it wasn’t until 10 years later that the idea for Accordio was born:

The pandemic

That was the key moment that led to Accordio.

Suddenly everything was different. Concerts were canceled, lessons were only possible online, if at all. Art as such was – at least unofficially – declared irrelevant to the system and the uncertainty about the coming years was omnipresent.

Can the crisis be an opportunity?

Building a new foothold was out of the question, and neither was giving up. So what to do? Matthias had already tried his own online academy before, but that didn’t seem to be the way to go.

But then came the idea for a completely new concept.

Rethinking accordion lessons!

What if accordion lessons were radically focused on just one thing: the goals and wishes of the students? What would it be like if you set yourself a goal at the beginning, such as learning to play a certain piece. And then pursue and achieve this goal over a clearly defined period of time?

And how about not stopping at the materials and methods of conventional school works, but offering your own instructions, learning videos, exercise sheets, free sheet music and specially written arrangements?

If you think of playing and learning the accordion with joy and motivation and not as a duty and a chore?

The Premium Mentoring

was born:

The new concept quickly became a sure-fire success. Benjamin, who had switched to marketing after studying music, created the new website and just two weeks after its launch, the mentoring places for the new offer were fully booked.

And that over several years.

So it was all good. Or was it?

Not quite. Because this concept meant that only a small circle of people had the opportunity to grow beyond any imagined limits on the accordion.

But a central mission demanded that they leave the path of success and choose an exciting new start:

It became my mission statement to share my enthusiasm for unexpected possibilities with the accordion with as many people as possible.

Matthias Matzke

A simple question:

How can we transfer what has proven successful with hundreds of pupils to everyone?

How can absolute beginners, returners, advanced users and even professionals use an online platform to achieve what has so far proved impossible?

A revolutionary concept

We took the tried-and-tested methods and approaches and rethought them:

Group lessons with open hours, for mutual exchange, points of contact and inspiration.

Video lessons that are geared towards specific goals e.g. improving finger speed, playing by heart, learning basses

Free sheet music and worksheets

Workshops and topic impulses with some of the best teachers in Germany

Support via e-mail and comments

And much more.

Learn to play the accordion for everyone!

Because our aim was to enable as many people as possible to learn to play the accordion, we set up a subscription model that we could implement at the lowest possible price.

Accordion enthusiasm

As a goal and starting point

Because Accordio is not just for you, but also for us. Accordio should be fun. To bring joy. And enable you to play the accordion like you’ve never heard yourself before.

This is another reason why you can be an Accordio member for 10 days completely free of charge.
